First Church of Christ Congregational Clinton, CT
Dear Friends in Christ,

With deep sadness I share the news with you that Margaret “Peg” Boardman passed away yesterday at
Middlesex Hospital.  Peg had emergency stomach surgery earlier in the week, and for a long time had been
experiencing declining health.  But her mind was always sharp and she constantly expressed her love and
concern for others.  She was a beloved mother and mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a
very dedicated church member who had been active in the Morning Circle, Summer Fairs, and the Church
School, and she was also a very good friend.  Our sincere condolences go to Rich and Lourdes, Jessica, Sean,
Kym, and their family, all of whom had taken great care of her.  A memorial service will be held in the near
future.

Our sincere condolences also go to Kris and Paul Muratori, to Mary and Nicholas and their family for the death
of Kris’s brother, Tobias “Toby” R. Engel.  Toby was the victim of the terribly tragic hiking accident at Sleeping
Giant Park last Sunday.  His life was celebrated in a mass of Christian burial at the St. Joan of Arc Church in
Hamden yesterday.

We will celebrate the Sixth Sunday after Epiphany and Boy Scout Sunday when the members of Troop #7 and
#55 and Pack #7 will help lead worship.  It is also the birthday anniversary of Abraham Lincoln!  My morning
message is The Healing Touch based on the Scripture readings of I Kings 5:1-14, I Corinthians 9:24-27, and
Mark 1:40-45.

On Sunday morning the Men’s Bible Study Group will meet at 8:00 a.m. in the east kitchen and the Confirmation
Class will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel.

After the worship service, the Diaconate Board, the Buildings and Grounds Committee, the Christian Education
Committee, the Music Committee, and this year’s mission trip group will hold their respective meetings.

On Sunday we will enjoy the Valentine Cake Auction during the fellowship hour. All proceeds will benefit the
Capital Campaign.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Soup Kitchen cook-off last Saturday.  We were able to cook and
freeze several large meals and have a lot of fellowship and fun during our time together.

February is “Bag It Month”, and we appreciate your donated nonperishable food, paper goods, and grocery
bags for The Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries.  There is a designated area in fellowship hall for your
donations.

The Church Board will meet this Wednesday evening, 7:00 p.m., in the chapel.

Hope to see you in church!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Chris
