Church School Activities

Welcome Breakfast

We love to kick off our Sunday school year with a warm welcome! Each year, our Christian Education Committee and Sunday school teaching staff welcome students with a get to know you breakfast during worship service on the second Sunday of September. Students meet their classmates and teachers, sit together during the event, and have some homemade treats to celebrate the start of another fun school year.

Holy Week

From Palm Sunday to Easter, Holy Week is the most sacred of times in our church. To honor this week, our Christian Education Committee hosts an intergenerational event focusing on the entrance of Jesus on Palm Sunday, the Last Supper of Maundy Thursday, the devastation of Good Friday, and the celebration of Easter. Each of these is highlighted by interactive stations in our fellowship hall. Members and visitors circulate and learn about their stations, stamping a passport of faith and creating memories. Children work on crafts and activities alongside the adults in our church family. We welcome the community for this event to help up celebrate this special time in our church and sacred time of our faith.

Advent

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! To kick off this joyous season, our church families gather on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend to start the season in faith. A full program is coordinated by our Christian Education Committee and Director of Christian Education incorporating service projects, crafts, activities, and dinner. Visitors and guests are welcome to join us. Children are encouraged to come in or bring pajamas, as the night ends with a story and hot cocoa! Please let us know if you plan to join us, so we can be sure to have enough food. A goodwill donation helps defray the cost of this dinner.

Children’s Sunday

Can you imagine children taking over the entire worship service? That is the best part of Children’s Sunday. Led by our Sunday school teachers and coordinators, children lead the service, offer the sermon, act as the deacons, and perform the musical selections. There is so much talent and faith in our young people and this is the best way to show it off! After the worship service, our Christian Education Committee hosts a whole church picnic lunch to continue the celebration and allow everyone to break bread together before the start of the summer.
